Los Gatos, CA (2/20/2020) – Six people were hospitalized and one was arrested after a wrong-way crash on Highway 17 Thursday morning. The accident happened at 1:00 a.m. near the Highway 85 junction.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 1995 Jeep Wrangler driven by 33-year-old Alex Waddle was heading south in the northbound lane of the highway when he struck a 2017 Acura carrying four people. Waddle was ejected from his Jeep, which then caught on fire. After the initial collision, a motorcyclist hit debris from the crash and lost control of their 2007 Yamaha, causing them to be ejected from their motorcycle.

Waddle and the motorcyclist were rushed to the hospital with major injuries, while the four occupants in the Acura only suffered minor injuries. Police say Waddle will face a DUI charge when he is released from the hospital.
