Gustine, CA (4/23/2020) – A man from San Jose died Wednesday afternoon after being involved in a two-vehicle collision near Gustine. The crash occurred at 4:25 p.m. on Highway 33 at Sullivan Road.

The California Highway Patrol states that the 26-year-old victim, who has not been identified, was a passenger in a 1996 Acura Integra driven by 23-year-old Lisa Chavez. According to investigators, Chavez was driving north on Highway 33 when she attempted to turn left onto Sullivan Road. She turned into the path of a 2017 Nissan Sentra driven by a 25-year-old male that was heading the opposite direction. The Nissan struck the passenger side of the Acura, killing the man from San Jose. Emergency responders took Chavez to Los Banos Memorial Hospital, where she is recovering from her injuries.

Police say that all of the people involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
