Two People Dead, One Arrested in Separate Crashes Overnight in San Jose
June 16, 2020San Jose, CA (6/16/2020) – Police are investigating two separate crashes that left two people dead on Monday night.
The first accident occurred around 11:35 p.m. on Highway 85 at Union Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, 33-year-old Svyatoslav Solovyev was driving his 2020 BMW M8 when he collided with a 2006 Subaru and a 2007 Toyota Camry. One of the drivers, a 61-year-old woman from Hollister, was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and later died from her injuries. Police arrested Solovyev on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
The second crash occurred around 2:10 a.m. on Almaden Expressway at Redmond Avenue. A man driving south on the expressway in a 2006 black Acura Integra lost control of the vehicle and ran into some trees on the side of the roadway before rolling over. The man died at the scene of the accident.
Police are still investigating both crashes. So far, neither of the victims have been identified.
