One Dead, Two Injured in Multiple-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101
March 7, 2020San Jose, CA (3/7/2020) – One person was killed and two others were injured Sunday morning after being involved in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 101. The crash occurred around 5:40 a.m. just north of I-880.
California Highway Patrol investigators state that a 23-year-old driver got into a minor car accident while driving their 1997 Acura on the highway. The vehicle was blocking a lane of the highway when the driver got out to assess the damage. Troopers then believe that the driver was hit by a 2014 Dodge and a 2019 Chevy moments later. The Chevy then hit a nearby 1999 Lexus. The driver of the Acura died at the scene of the accident.
CHP says the drivers of two other cars only suffered minor injuries. All of the lanes of the highway were shut down Saturday morning while CHP investigated the crash. The highway reopened just before 9:00 a.m.
